Softball Hopes
I spent most of the 206th day of 2021 thinking about softball. I mean, I think about softball a lot but, on 7/25/2021, neither of my kids were playing. Nor where any of the teams (Mustangs, Combat) for whom I sometimes assist Bob in coaching. But my friend, Chris, was umpiring two games at the Little League Softball Eastern Regional and then the US is playing Japan in Olympic Softball. Sure, we sandwiched a Phillies game (and a good one at that), but my thoughts were all on softball. Today, one of Alexa and Anna's long-time teammates was playing her last local softball game (she is off to play in college in Florida in the Fall). And I saw the posts on Facebook, and I remembered all the good times we have had on the diamond. Hoping for one or two more exhibitions this Summer but, if not, it was an amazing ride we have had for Alexa. Anna has one more year and my softball hopes are that we have another great year and make more softball memories and that I can stay involved with softball (well I know I can run a mean LL Snack Stand) into the future. What a great game, what great teammates Alexa and Anna have had, what great memories. Here's hoping we never forget the times we had and we have more great, albeit different, times in the future.
