Masking Hopes
Lots of news this week in regards to masks and the US "opening back up." On the 135th day of 2021, I feel like I will continue to wear my mask in many places. 1) it's mandated on campus (when I get to return which will hopefully be soon!). 2) it's mandated by many locations (stores, venues, etc). 3) I have no idea of others' vaccination status and, even if they are not wearing a mask and not vaccinated, I still do not want to risk giving them Covid, I could be a carrier, even 2-weeks post Pfizer #2. On 5/15/2021, I have masking hopes. I hope people realize that wearing a mask is less about your safety and more about the safety of others. Am I tired of wearing a mask, sure AM! But, to me, it's a sign of caring about others and, frankly, it's not that hard. Here's hoping that more people get vaccinations and that the need to wear a mask lessens.... although, with the news of the lower flu occurrence this winter, I may wear a mask more often during the flu season.
