Hopes for Midwives

The 125th day of 2021 is The International Day of the Midwife.  It is also the first day of National Nurses Week.  Even though it has been six and a half years since I was working in the School of Nursing, my affinity for nurses and midwives remains strong.  Not only because I am married to a nurse practitioner and my eldest is in Nursing School.  But also because the profession of nursing and nurse-midwifery is filled with some of the most intelligent, caring people I know.  On 5/5/2021, I have Hopes for Midwives.  Midwives played a strong role in the births of my children and I hope that the tide continues to turn towards allowing an expanded scope of practice and, by increasing the number of midwives at births, we increase the health of the world!
